HI LADIES AND GENTS. Some more responses re: fandoms and things I love from that meme I posted over the weekend.

4. Fringe

I was expressly told that Olivia/WOMEN and Olivia/GUNS don't count as favourite ships. I think

hibernate is just being unreasonable, frankly, because gosh is Olivia ever pretty with both of those things. And, given those restrictions, I guess I can't use Olivia/angst either, because TECHNICALLY angst isn't a character. (Although, on a show like Fringe, I think there's an argument to be made that it is.) Or Olivia/whiskey-and-cornflakes.

But basically, AS SOME OF YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED, I really love Olivia and I just want her to be happy with someone who likes her and has not experimented on her as a child or killed any of her close friends or relatives. It could be anyone. As far as women in the fandom go, I do love reading fic with Olivia and Astrid, but I think I like the idea of them as friends, more than lovers. I feel like that's more a pairing of convenience, rather than a pairing based on a lot of romantic subtext (the exception being Brown Betty AUs, where obviously Olivia and Esther are queer for each other) and I am sort of attached to the idea of Astrid and Peter and Walter as a surrogate, non-sexy family for Olivia. (This is also why I find Peter/Olivia so weird as a romantic relationship, and infinitely more acceptable when it is Peter/Altlivia. STOP DATING YOUR SISTER, PETER. ALSO STOP MURDERING, I FEEL IT MAY BE A RED FLAG FOR YOUR DESCENT INTO EVIL.)

I think this is just a long-winded way of saying that I kind of prefer Olivia Dunham paired with women from other shows, because there are a lot of stoic ladycops on other series who would be perfect for Olivia, and there is nothing more fun than writing fic to set them up. After writing Olivia Dunham/Kate Beckett, I've got to say they're my favourite, because now that I think about it they're sort of perfect for each other. They both have secret, painful backstories involving their moms! They like drinking after work! They have similarly excellent taste in jackets and hairstyles! IDK, I really wish I had visual aids, but I have monkey skills at Photoshop. ~~If any of you wanted to make some, I wouldn't object.~~

However, in place of proper visual aids, why not just take these caps and like, smoosh them together in your heads.

5. Castle

Oddly enough, I ship Castle/Beckett. Sort of. Under very specific circumstances. Because, like. Beckett is wonderful, and sometimes Castle is a womanizing tool and sometimes he's selfish and does things she doesn't want him to do, and under those circumstances I don't really like them together? But sometimes Castle is awesome and clearly cares about her an awful lot, and those times, I think they should hook up and maybe date. But I still feel like the relationship between them isn't necessarily a sustainable one. Like, I would love it to be, but sometimes I have reservations. And sometimes I want Beckett to hook up with Natalie Rhodes, or run away to Boston with Olivia Dunham to have fabulous hair and be Ella's cool gay second aunt.

All that being said, I am still super into her fabulous hair this season, and also that one time she made out with Castle ~for justice. And also every single facial expression she makes, ever.

6. Firefly

Ohhh Firefly. Show of my heart. It has been so long. True story: somewhere, deep in the depths of the internet under a different alias, there is fic that Grade 11 me wrote about Kaylee and River hooking up. I remember being happy that it got lots of comments. Don't look for it, it's embarrassing.

The character that I love the most on Firefly is and will always be Kaylee, and I - I don't know. I kind of loved her with Simon in Serenity, because relationship was full of such longing that seeing it come full circle was like, somehow gratifying for me just as a fan of Kaylee. But as all of my favourite pairings involve lesbians, I've got to say, I have a pretty serious soft spot for Inara/Kaylee. They were just so sweet together, and Inara was one of my other favourites, and IDK. That's all I've got.

7. How I Met Your Mother

Okay. Full disclosure time: I watched this show until S4 and then got kind of bored. But PRIOR TO ME NOT WATCHING ANYMORE, Robin/Barney all the way, you guys. They were bros! They liked scotch! They had this amazing friendship based on mutual respect and shared interests, and then they started doing it! I - I honestly don't understand why they ever broke up, you guys. I just do not.

In other news, Spartacus is crass and I don't really like it but I feel like I should mention to the internet that Jaime Murray is awfully, awfully naked in this week's episode. I. . .can't say the nudity is worth watching the show, in my opinion, but other's feelings may differ.

ALSO ALSO: guys, what happened to my ability to write short stories. I started this cute little ficlet for the porn battle and now it's 4K and has a plot and feelings. THE FUCK.
