Hello, flist! Christmas totally happened, and it was awesome/full of family drama, in equal measure, as per annual tradition.

yuletide happened, and I got a lovely story:
Darling I Do, Lost Girl, Bo/Lauren
It is post-1.08, and there are cookies and processing and I totally really love it.

I wrote one story for the main archive, plus two Madness ficlets that I am really pleased with, and if you guess what I wrote you get - well, probably nothing. Bragging rights and an internet high-five.

I also got a chance to see Sherlock Holmes over the holidays, which was, as advertised, full of homoerotic bro-love and explosions, and exactly what I was expecting it to be.

Although: oh my god, the Dark Knight trailer that showed before it. So full of OH GOD WHO CARES SHUT UP BATMAN, except that seeing a trailer for a movie that glossy and well-promoted, set in Gotham, just makes me PINE for the fact that it will not have Renee or Kate Kane or Babs or Helena or Dinah or Stephanie Brown or ANY OF THE AMAZING GOTHAM WOMEN WHO I WOULD BUY SIX MOVIE TICKETS TO SEE IN THEATRES. Asldfkjs;jfj.

(As an aside: I have started reading the new Birds of Prey, and I need to sit down with someone very urgently to discuss the finer points of a) why Ev is amazing, and b) girls.)

Got my yuletide assignment. I've gotta say, I'm not so sure their new matching algorithm is working as advertised, but I'm pretty satisfied. I'm definitely writing out of my comfort zone, but it's something I think I can have a bit of fun with, and I'm curious to see what canon gives me so that I can start plotting something out.

I'm also ECSTATIC over people on my flist talking about girlsgunsfic. And about the story I'm going to write for it. And about how I get to rewatch hours and hours of TV with ladycops and call it research. And basically everything else about this fic exchange, it is going to be MAGNIFICENT I hope.


Also, Batwoman #0 came out today, and omg ( spoilers )

I am having a really odd experience with Batwoman in general, though. Because I'm not used to like, ~reading comics on a regular basis, so I don't know if I'm doing it "properly"? I also don't understand how there can be one character in multiple titles and like. . .people are expected to figure out how to keep track of that?

Part of my issue, I think, is that I care very deeply about Kate Kane and to an extent Renee Montoya but I HATE BATMAN MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE UNIVERSE, and I will feel that way for ETERNITY BECAUSE HE IS AWFUL. So I want to avoid stuff I don't like, while getting as much of what I like as possible.
