Happy holidays-that-you-may-or-may-not-celebrate-in-December, flist! I MISS YOU.

This is the first year in many, many years that I did not do Yuletide, and on the one hand I think that was an excellent decision, because I got approximately a billion colds over the month of December and it was no fun. On the other, it is so weird not doing Yuletide and stressing out/checking for gifts with the rest of fandom! Where are you guys? DO I NEED TO ACTUALLY START READING TUMBLR I CAN'T IT'S TOO HARD.



I am pondering doing one of those "year in review" memes, but basically it would go something like, "This Year I Very Much Enjoyed Bo/Lauren, You Can Tell Because I Wrote An Enormous Pirate AU Of Them." Also I hardly wrote compared to previous years, mostly because: job. Which is good for me on the one hand, but on the other I miss writing and getting wrapped up in fictional worlds, you know?

I did still watch lots and lots and lots of TV shows - I am still not ~emotionally ready~ to rewatch the last half of Warehouse 13 and process it, because I have TOO MANY FEELINGS, but it totally happened.

Also I have been keeping up to date on Once Upon A Time, and letting it percolate, and I still do not, like, ~get~ Emma/Regina, but OH MY GOD CAN WE DISCUSS HOW MUCH I LOVE RUBY/BELLE AND WANT THEM TO FALL IN FABULOUS TRUE LOVE AND ADOPT A KITTEN. I rewatched "Skin Deep" last night, and now I have all these thoughts on Belle, because APPARENTLY my one true character these days is someone bookish and a little bit awkward who has spent a fair bit of their lives in some sort of prison. DON'T JUDGE ME. Where - where do I find the other people who also have thoughts on her and then we talk about how she should make out with Ruby and is it possible to make out without being in True Love if you are a Fairytale Person and oh my god is Rumplestiltskin not the creepiest thing to ever creep WHY IS THAT A THING and what do you guys think Belle's favourite kinds of books would be.

I - it is possible that I want to write fic.


ALSO ALSO ALSO Lost Girl comes back NEXT MONTH, and there will be a Season 3 and there will be kissing and Bo will be all evil and skanky and Lauren will look like this in her excellent gay shirt collection and GUYS WHAT IF BO HOOKS UP WITH THE MORRIGAN. IT COULD TOTALLY HAPPEN OMGOMG. I plan to celebrate by rewatching the entire series, if I can ever stop pondering Once Upon A Time.

1. I am currently almost finished my rewatch of Buffy S6 and S7. Verdict: Season 6 was better once rewatched as not a sixteen-year-old. Spike is still really gross. That last episode with Amber Benson in it still makes me cry. Buffy really did give a lot of speeches in S7. I still have massive crushes on both Kennedy and Faith, WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE A TYPE.

2. OMGOMGOMGOMG OKAY WE NEED TO DISCUSS THIS AND THIS. So Lost Girl spoilers have been leaking (now that the S3 scripts are starting to get written, I guess?), and aslkdjfl;sjf. On the one hand, ( cut for SPOILERS for SEASON 3 ) On the other, ( cut for more spoilers )

ANYWAY. Basically this is all giving me a ton of theories and I cannot wait to see the rest of this season.

3. I just need to say this somewhere, because I have been reading the Lost Girl tag on Tumblr and that is an excellent way to get super, super upset at misogyny in fandom:

GUYS I CANNOT EVEN COPE WITH HOW AMAZING TELEVISION IS THIS WEEK.

1) CASTLE. CASTLE CASTLE CASTLE. Mostly I am referring to KATE BECKETT and how pretty she is, god I could die. IT IS WONDERFUL. I want this show to exist forever just so Beckett can have adorably sensible ponytails and wear jeans and t-shirts and be emotionally-vulnerable-yet-fucking-badass.

I've been thinking, for the past few days, about doing something along the lines of offering something for the help_japan auctions. But - well, it's mostly that I have free time to write now, and won't when the auctions close.

Anyway. I've decided to offer up stories here, in a much less structured way:

The first five people to comment to this entry will be able to request either: a story of at least 500 words on a fandom and pairing of their choosing, OR a picspam of at least 500 words (plus pictures) about an episode of a TV show of their choosing. In exchange, bidder, you must make a donation of at least $10 US (or the equivalent in your favourite currency) to the Red Cross. You will be asked to provide some sort of proof of donation - screencaps are fine.

I'll match whatever the total is, up to a max of $50. Fandoms include pretty much everything I've ever talked about here, with the exception of Disney RPF fandoms and Wizards, which I'm currently not feeling.

That said, if you're not feeling this offer, I'd still encourage you all to go to help_japan and bid on things, as well/instead.

Guys, I just had this thought. This totally awesome thought. I really love Christmas/other religious holidays/the all-inclusive, non-offensive Snowflake Day gift exchanges. Like, really a lot. There's always SO MANY STORIES and they're FUN, etc etc etc. But I've sort of dropped out of RPF, so I can't do prettylightsfic this year, and there aren't any fandom-specific ones that appeal to me right now.

BUT THEN I HAD THIS THOUGHT. Guys, what if there was like, a Sexy Lady Cops ficathon. It'd be for fandoms featuring Sexy Lady Cops (Bones, Castle, Fringe, Warehouse 13. . .maybe others that I'm missing because I don't watch them) and you'd get to request fic where they are Sexy GAY Lady Cops. IT'D BE AWESOME.

+ Oh man. I love writing these long, epic stories, but I hate that feeling of being adrift, writing-wise, once I've posted. I've spent all of my writing time so intensely focused on this one piece, and now I don't know what to do with myself anymore. It's done, but I sort of miss it, you know?

+ I'm also really trying to write Fringe, because after marathoning the entire series in a month, I just want to write awesome stuff about Olivia and how rad she is. If anyone at all wants to discuss that, or the ways in which her various hairstyles are very important, or which of her suits is your favourite, or how weird it is when she kisses boys because OH MY GOD SHE READS AS SO SCREAMINGLY QUEER TO ME (which, okay, does not preclude boy-kissing, but I found it very surprising in a way I can't quite articulate properly), I would be okay with having those conversations. We could use visual aids to underscore our very serious arguments. ESPECIALLY THAT LAST ONE.

(SERIOUSLY IF ANY OF YOU WANT TO GET INTO FRINGE, NOW WOULD BE THE TIME. IT IS GIVING ME SUCH HEARTPUPILS, PLZ SHARE THIS JOYOUS TIME WITH ME.)

+ Alternately, any of you are absolutely WELCOME to prompt me for fic. I can't promise I'll get to all of them, but I've like, forgotten how to write short fiction, and some help would be lovely. Lots and lots of help. If you do leave prompts, I would appreciate them in the (pairing, multiple prompt suggestions) format. (For example: Blair/Serena, umbrella, handcuffs, stalker, Mary, France.)

Fandoms that are fair game include Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl RPF, Seeker and Fringe, as well as any crossover permutations of these.

HOWEVER. ( some thoughts on fic headers )

I raise this issue because the Seeker finale aired less than a day ago, and I'm pretty sure that the entire internet hasn't seen it yet. And this is kind of an ongoing thing in the fandom, from what I've seen over the past couple months - the typical grace period for spoiler warnings in headers is at least a week, in some fandoms it's as long as a month or an entire season, as a courtesy to new viewers. Just something to think about.
