Let's not discuss how it has been like, months and months since I have posted. I am here, and I still read my flist every day, and sometimes I even check Tumblr.

Things I Am Into Right Now include: Lost Girl always and forever, Warehouse 13, Elementary, REIGN OMG WE HAVE TO DISCUSS REIGN I LOVE THIS BIG DUMB SHOW, Captain America, JANE FOSTER: THE MOVIE Thor 2 was alright, and also I am sort of into the new Draahhhhhculaaa show on NBC. It's DREADFUL, but Mina is a plucky Victorian med student and Lucy is FABULOUS and also breathtakingly gay.

Anyway, I have a week off and was on Tumblr this morning and osito_panda may or may not have goaded me into writing Dracula fic, and then IDK it just happened. WHOOPS.

Happy holidays-that-you-may-or-may-not-celebrate-in-December, flist! I MISS YOU.

This is the first year in many, many years that I did not do Yuletide, and on the one hand I think that was an excellent decision, because I got approximately a billion colds over the month of December and it was no fun. On the other, it is so weird not doing Yuletide and stressing out/checking for gifts with the rest of fandom! Where are you guys? DO I NEED TO ACTUALLY START READING TUMBLR I CAN'T IT'S TOO HARD.



I am pondering doing one of those "year in review" memes, but basically it would go something like, "This Year I Very Much Enjoyed Bo/Lauren, You Can Tell Because I Wrote An Enormous Pirate AU Of Them." Also I hardly wrote compared to previous years, mostly because: job. Which is good for me on the one hand, but on the other I miss writing and getting wrapped up in fictional worlds, you know?

I did still watch lots and lots and lots of TV shows - I am still not ~emotionally ready~ to rewatch the last half of Warehouse 13 and process it, because I have TOO MANY FEELINGS, but it totally happened.

Also I have been keeping up to date on Once Upon A Time, and letting it percolate, and I still do not, like, ~get~ Emma/Regina, but OH MY GOD CAN WE DISCUSS HOW MUCH I LOVE RUBY/BELLE AND WANT THEM TO FALL IN FABULOUS TRUE LOVE AND ADOPT A KITTEN. I rewatched "Skin Deep" last night, and now I have all these thoughts on Belle, because APPARENTLY my one true character these days is someone bookish and a little bit awkward who has spent a fair bit of their lives in some sort of prison. DON'T JUDGE ME. Where - where do I find the other people who also have thoughts on her and then we talk about how she should make out with Ruby and is it possible to make out without being in True Love if you are a Fairytale Person and oh my god is Rumplestiltskin not the creepiest thing to ever creep WHY IS THAT A THING and what do you guys think Belle's favourite kinds of books would be.

I - it is possible that I want to write fic.


ALSO ALSO ALSO Lost Girl comes back NEXT MONTH, and there will be a Season 3 and there will be kissing and Bo will be all evil and skanky and Lauren will look like this in her excellent gay shirt collection and GUYS WHAT IF BO HOOKS UP WITH THE MORRIGAN. IT COULD TOTALLY HAPPEN OMGOMG. I plan to celebrate by rewatching the entire series, if I can ever stop pondering Once Upon A Time.

I am really excited that you are my partner. I am confident that you have excellent taste, because we have matched on at least one of my favourite pairings in my favourite fandoms EVER, and I am super excited to read whatever you decide to write for me.

In broad, general terms, I like madcap adventures and truly ridiculous AUs (think: that one time everyone was a sexy vampire/cowboy/pirate/space-time traveler). If you want to write the story that is basically GUYS WHAT IF MYKA WAS A SAILOR AND HG WELLS HAD AN EYEPATCH AND THEY MADE EYES AT EACH OTHER ACROSS THE OCEAN, I would be THERE.

The characters I gravitate to in fiction are women who are grown up and excellent at their jobs and have a core of vulnerability but don't let it stop them from being fantastic at punching stuff in the face/blowing things up/quietly saving the universe, and I like them to stay that way in fic.

I like reading about kissing, and very consensual, enthusiastic sex, sometimes on tabletops. But I also like reading about friendly devotion that blurs that line into romantic devotion, and holding hands, and spooning, if the emotional notes are hit just right. My automatic, bulletproof squicks include: dramatic verbal declarations of love, any rom-com style romantic "misunderstanding", non-consensual sexual activity, babies, weddings, that thing where people "play doctor" and it's a "sexy physical exam" etc. Emphatically no thank you.

1. Warehouse 13! I - I have a lot of emotions. A lot of them are Claudia-related emotions, and the rest are related to Myka and her hair and how fabulous she is, PLUS I have some theories about the thing that happened in the first episode of the season and What It Means. I want to discuss it, but I also want to wait and see where the show takes things. TORN.

2. Due to various reasons, I've been scheduled bizarre work hours recently and maaay have accidentally rewatched all of Season 4 of Buffy. WORLD WITHOUT SHRIMP. GILES IS A DEMON. I WEAR THE CHEESE, IT DOES NOT WEAR ME. Also - okay, first of all, I cannot believe it has been more than ten years since that season aired on TV, but also I have a lot of thoughts re: Willow and Tara. Because like, as a fourteen-year-old babyqueer watching that as it aired, I thought Willow and Tara were SO COOL and also SO SUBTLE AND MYSTERIOUS (possibly I also thought Buffy was THE BEST SHOW EVER MADE EVER). And looking back - god, what a bizarre way to depict a relationship. I know that at the time there were limits to what one could show in a TV program geared toward teens, but - like, they don't even kiss. At all. The entire season.

And now TV shows aimed at teens can have queer female characters have sex, in an actually-depicted way, and - I don't know. The future: different from the past and in many ways better!

Also, going back as an adult, I cannot stand Xander anymore. Wow.

3. At the end of the month I am going to Fan Expo, which is like SDCC except little and Canadian and everyone is super polite yet simultaneously has no boundaries. And once again, the cast of Lost Girl is doing a panel. I plan to nerd out hardcore and wait for an amount of time I shall not disclose after the fact to be in a room while Anna Silk and Zoie Palmer talk about things.

It's going to be fantastic/possibly it will go a lot like this a softer world comic. If any of you are in the area and planning to be there, let me know!

4. In light of this, possibly I want to try to rewatch alllll of Lost Girl between now and August 24. GUYS YOU SHOULD JOIN ME. THERE IS SO MUCH RIDICULOUS STUFF/I SORT OF LOVE THAT SHOW/MAGIC BEER BODYSWAP THEREFORE ALL YOUR ARGUMENTS ARE INVALID. MAGIC BEER BODYSWAP AND ALSO I AM WILLING TO BET MONEY THAT LAUREN SECRETLY MAINTAINS A CUPCAKE BLOG IN HER SPARE TIME.

(Someday I will have to do ficlet-amnesty and post the snippets of my Lauren-and-Dyson-get-drunk-and-agree-to-open-a-brewery story. I want that to be actual fanon, you guys. So much.)

Happy long weekend of several different religious holidays, internet. I hope yours has been as excellent as mine has.

1. In celebration of spring/also I just bought it and it did not work as well on my toes as I thought it would, I now have electric lime nails. THIS IS AWESOME. I feel simultaneously super 80s and like a pretty princess.

2. I have been really really trying to work steadily at my fivetimesbb story, which is Bo and Lauren being pirates and IDK swashbuckling and making out and stuff, as I am sort of panicking re: the idea of getting it done by the end of the month. It is 8,000 words, and probably will end up being about 9 once I sit down and turn some of the [and then they do this] bits into actual paragraphs. This means, on the one hand, that I am almost done I AM PRETTY SURE. But on the other, this means I now get to start the pretty mammoth task of editing it into something approaching a decent story.

3. To coax myself into doing that, I let myself write a tiny sliver of Bo/The Morrigan. FEEL FREE TO FOLLOW MY EXAMPLE AND WRITE MORE, GUYS. Possibly with bondage, and/or maple syrup.

4. I still have So Many Feelings over the Lost Girl S2 finale, and I do not know where I go to find the people who are also freaking out over how great/ridiculous/who cares it's awesome this show is. (And, obviously, writing the post-finale fic and talking endlessly about how Bo should totally - with Lauren's blessing - start sleeping with the Morrigan on the side and also shipping the fuck out of Kenzi and Hale and kind of sometimes secretly shipping Bo and Kenzi.)

I am debating trying to organize some kind of fic thing at bo_lauren, although really what I want is a GIANT ALL-LADIES-ALL-THE-TIME KINK MEME, and for everyone I know who is amazing at fic to play.

1. I am currently almost finished my rewatch of Buffy S6 and S7. Verdict: Season 6 was better once rewatched as not a sixteen-year-old. Spike is still really gross. That last episode with Amber Benson in it still makes me cry. Buffy really did give a lot of speeches in S7. I still have massive crushes on both Kennedy and Faith, WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE A TYPE.

2. OMGOMGOMGOMG OKAY WE NEED TO DISCUSS THIS AND THIS. So Lost Girl spoilers have been leaking (now that the S3 scripts are starting to get written, I guess?), and aslkdjfl;sjf. On the one hand, ( cut for SPOILERS for SEASON 3 ) On the other, ( cut for more spoilers )

ANYWAY. Basically this is all giving me a ton of theories and I cannot wait to see the rest of this season.

3. I just need to say this somewhere, because I have been reading the Lost Girl tag on Tumblr and that is an excellent way to get super, super upset at misogyny in fandom:

Hello, internet! It has been ever so long since last we spoke. Some things:

1) Real life has made me ever so sleepy, and I am currently in that place where I really want to ~do fandom stuff~, but am really only up to passively consuming TV and nodding quietly. I plan to take it easy this weekend, because CLEARLY I need to recover in time for both new Lost Girl tomorrow, AND ALSO making approx. 192038498 Dyson: World's Crankiest Relationship Counsellor icons, because I am still not done lolling at that.

2) Oh man. Did you know that watching episodes of Xena and then Lucy Lawless episodes of BSG back to back is really surreal? Because it totally, totally is. She is ten years older yet INEXPLICABLY EVEN HOTTER POSSIBLY BECAUSE OF ALL THE CARESSING TRICIA HELFER.

3) Hey, did you know that I wrote fic? Because I 100% did, and I think it's pretty awesome. I am now posting my fic on AO3 at the same time as posting on LJ, in case you wish to subscribe to my on AO3 rather than following scurvyknavery. The kudos system still drives me NUTS grumblegrumble anons clicking the like button grumblegrumble in my day we had to write comments with words in them uphill in the snow etc etc stupid whippersnappers ruining everything, but that seems to be what people are doing these days.
