Warehouse 3.02: Thoughts With Pictures

I really don't have much to talk about this episode, because the whole thing was just Myka doing her job, really really well, in the face of not feeling like she could do her job really really well. Which was WONDERFUL, and she had SO MANY FEELINGS, and yes there are the layers to this where she is oozing with homosexual longing for H.G. Wells, but I cannot get to that place because I am so stuck on all the ways I loved this episode just for what it was.

Basically: this episode plucked at the same heartstrings that the Christmas episode tugged, namely FOUND FAMILY and also WACKY NERDS and also GAYS and also MYKA IS VERY PRETTY AND FANTASTIC, so I am not 100% super coherent. I spent most of this episode wishing I could reach through my monitor to give Myka a hug and be like, IT'S OKAY, I GET IT, YOU WILL BE FINE, YOU ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE. LET'S DATE.

However. Some thoughts. About the feelings. Because that's what this episode was about.

EXHIBIT A: MYKA, EMOTING IN A HOSPITAL. AND A PRISON. BEING REALLY EXCELLENT AT HER JOB.



CAN WE ALSO DISCUSS HOW JOANNE KELLY IS GORGEOUS AND TALL LIKE AN AMAZON, AND NOW ALLOWED TO WEAR HIGH HEELED BOOTS ALL OVER THE PLACE? CAN WE DISCUSS HOW THIS MAKES HER APPROX. 40% HOTTER?

Also, WHAT IS THIS SHIRT. I will tell you: IT IS AN H.G. WELLS SHIRT.



While I am thoroughly enjoying the floaty-and-sort-of-see-through nature of it, I do miss the old-fashioned tucked-in, incredibly fitted blouse version of Myka. I WONDER IF HER SHIRTS WILL GET TIGHTER AND TIGHTER AS HER CONFIDENCE IN HER JOB RETURNS? I WONDER ALSO, IF THAT IS CRASS AND SHALLOW OF ME TO WONDER? I WONDER IF ANY OF YOU SHARE MY THOUGHTS ON THE MATTER?

I wanted to be really coherent about the Myka-and-Pete plot of this episode, but I found it really challenging to recap, even though I loved it to pieces. So instead, I am going to skip ahead to the OTHER thing I loved about this episode, which was Claudia's storyline. Guys, I am officially totally into Claudia and Jinks as partners in crime. They work so well together, and omg this scene, I WAS SO READY TO CRINGE AND BE A LITTLE OFFENDED BUT THEN CLAUDIA WAS SWEET AND EARNEST AND BASICALLY THIS WAS AMAZING. I rarely feel the need to like, cap scenes with quotes, but I couldn't not, because I need to discuss, in detail, how good this was.

"Look, I'm just now noticing that you seem super focused on the whole, 'Senior Agent' thing."
"Maybe 'cause I'm the senior agent."
"Right. And since we both already really, really know that, maybe you should try to just, y'know, relax. I mean, it's just the two of us out here."
"Oh. I get it."
"Get what, what are you getting?"
"What's happening here. Um, we're out of town, alone, two reasonably attractive single people -"
"Oh, oh, um -"



"It's okay, it's not like I'm not flattered, I am, and hey, I felt it too, that crackling chemistry between us, it's just that I really need to focus on my career right now, I don't have a ton of bandwidth for other stuff, as attractive as that other stuff may be, kay? So, maybe in a year or two, if you haven't gotten me out of your system, then -"



"Oh my god, I'm not hitting on you, I'm gay."
"You're - how, now?"
"Gay. You know, when two people of the same sex find each other -"
"Yeah, no, I know what gay means, I-"
"Look, I usually, I don't make a big deal about it."
"You didn't. I thought - you know what I thought."
"No, no, it's my bad, it's my fault, I should have stopped you, I was waiting for you to, uh, take a breath."
"No, it's cool. I've actually been, um, waiting for an opportunity to feel this completely mortified with myself, so, huzzah."
"I'm sorry, maybe we should just -"
"Not talk, super, good plan."



I don't know why this is so wonderful, but it is and I kind of love it. He is a legit out gay dude who is not wrestling with his sexuality for the first time, yet needs to come out because he does not present obviously queer! This is tremendously refreshing and makes me go :D!

(Aside: Guys, I have this conversation all. The. Time. Possibly this is influencing my love for this scene. Well - okay not quite this conversation, but the one that goes something like, "You're a lesbian? But you don't. . .look like a lesbian. I SEE. LESBIANS ARE GREAT AND I ACCEPT YOU. NOTHING AT ALL ABOUT THIS IS WEIRD AND I HAVE NOT MADE ANY ASSUMPTIONS. ANYWAY I'LL BE OVER THERE."

Basically: thank you, Warehouse 13, for pointing out how awkward it is. Also Steve and Claudia are adorable.)


Oh god, and then THIS PART, in which Steve is sweet and supportive and they are awkward yet endearing together, and I need them to be artifact-finding partners for eternity.

"Artie. You want to impress him."
"Yes. Angela Lansbury, you've solved the mystery! Yeah, I want to make him proud. You don't know how good he's been to me, I - I can't let him down."
"Well, do you think that he would send you out here if he wasn't already proud of you?"



"You know, I never had a gay friend before. Which is weird, if you think about it, 'cause I'm sort of fabulous, right? I mean, I guess there was Paquito at the institution, but he was just one of Susan's personalities so I don't think he really counts, and I just told you I was in an institution, so. I guess today's sharing day."



I love them. I want Jinks to be her gay uncle. She can tease him about liking boys, and continue to be all sweetly protective of him while he learns to navigate the warehouse! He can buy her beer and tell her when her boyfriends are lying to her and gently mock her technogeekery and TOGETHER THEY FIGHT CRIME.

ANYWAY.


BACK TO MYKA, because her arc caps off the episode, and she is also wonderful. HERE SHE IS LOOKING TERRIFIED AND HAVING FEELINGS ABOUT PETE BEING HURT AND NOT HAVING BACKUP AND HAVING TO ~SOLVE THE CASE BY HERSELF USING HER ~SKILLS AS AN AGENT, and I cannot even describe what this did to me. My heart was trying to leap out of my chest for the last two thirds of this episode. LOOK AT THOSE EYES, HOW COULD YOU NOT.



ALSO, CAN WE DISCUSS HOW EVERY EPISODE SHOULD END WITH MYKA DOING A HEARTFELT VOICEOVER ABOUT FEELINGS, SET TO AN ALL-GIRL ACOUSTIC INDIE SOUNDTRACK? CAN WE POSSIBLY ALSO DISCUSS, IDK, HER FACE? This bit at the end was amazing, and thrace_ was totally right when she told me that I would love how the beginning and end were full of Myka's feelings all over everything.

SHE LEARNS TO BELIEVE IN HERSELF. SHE MISSES HER FOUND FAMILY. THERE'S ~A PLACE FOR HER AT THE TABLE~ AFTER ALL.
