pirateygoodnessTHIS EPISODE. OH GOD.
THINGS THAT WERE THE BEST, VAGUELY IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER.
1. You guys, STRIPPERS. I just. The actual plot of this episode revolved around MAGICAL JAILBREAKING STRIPPERS WITH, MAY I POINT OUT, HEARTS OF GOLD.
2. OTHER THINGS I LOVE: Guys, this is a real live genre show with a female lead who is legitimately bisexual and embraces her sexuality without getting slut-shamed by the show for it, and also she repeatedly saves and/or shows up the dudes.
In other words: BO LIKES BOOBS AND SPARKLES AND BOOBS, LOL THIS SCENE. I KEPT HAVING TO PAUSE BECAUSE I WAS GIGGLING TOO LOUD. There is just this face Anna Silk makes, and it is this perfect, glassy-eyed appreciative stare that just screams YES, LADYBONER TIME, I cannot get enough of it. (Also: Kenzi would make the best high-rolling mafia lord, in a distant future/awesome AU fic. Just saying.)
3. HEY GUYS, REMEMBER THAT TIME THAT MAGIC STRIPPERS MADE KENZI BISEXUAL? (STRIPPER-SEXUAL, IF YOU WILL.) I SURE DO.
4. Also, I just have to say: ♥SEAL PELTS♥. Magical Fae SEAL PELTS.
MOST CANADIAN OF ALL THE FAE, I bet those ~simple tree folk~ the mom was posing as were like, maple syrup sprites.
5. BO AND LAUREN OH MY GOD MY HEARTTTTT. I love this. I love that they explained it a bit more of Lauren's past. I love that there is a ~mysterious Fae infectious disease~ because I am a big dork and am into that kind of thing.
I also love Lauren's face and oh god, all of her feelings. I feel like she's legitimately torn, here - she wants to save Nadia so much, but it's so obvious how much she cares for Bo. I like that she's able to look Bo in the eye and say "I wanted to tell you" and mean it, but there's still the tension between the woman she wants now and the woman she's wanted for this long and it's just delicious and painful and amazing.
Like, look at this, her face, she is so visibly torn about the idea of opening that box, and I have no idea when on earth Bo became a person who was mature enough to handle this kind of thing, but IT IS AMAZING, THANK YOU SEASON TWO.
6. Sorry, allow me to be shallow. THIS SHIRT, UNF, YES IT GETS ITS OWN BULLET POINT.
Also also: as an aside, this conversation. Lauren just wants to call her giiiiiirlfriennnnnd and twirl the phone cord around her finger and talk about her feeeelings. And Bo just wants to have a giiirlfriennnnnnd with boobs that she can enjoy whenever she wants, except that there is ~an obstacle between them~, GUYS SORRY, I AM AT THE STAGE IN MY SHIPPING WHERE I JUST WANT THEM TO WORK THINGS OUT AND ADOPT A KITTEN, I HAVE ZERO PERSPECTIVE.
Also I cannot stop picturing a future where Bo begs Trick and Dyson to run interference for her so that she can sneak Lauren into bar bathrooms and hook up with her. BECAUSE AS DISCUSSED ABOVE: BO'S PANTS REQUIRE CONSTANT ATTENTION.
