The cast party is a blur of free drinks she's not officially allowed to have and tearful hugs with everyone she's ever met, and all Vanessa will really remember, months later, is this: sneaking away to steal messy, tipsy kisses with Zac and the way Ashley hugged her, so tight Vanessa thought she might actually get crushed, when Vanessa pulled her into a corner and told her that Zac was her boyfriend.

Normally, Alex would find this totally boring, because lying down is boring and stars are boring and like - they don't cancel each other out when you put them together. But - and possibly this is the wine cooler talking - she's not bored at all. She's just comfortable, watching the sky above her look huge and open while Justin is warm underneath her, keeping her grounded.

Overall Thoughts:
Uh, I write way more than I think I do. Also, this year was apparently The Year Of RPF, I hardly wrote any fictional-person stories.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
I definitely wrote different fic than I thought I would this year. I never dreamed that I'd write anything as long as My Heart is Plotting Treason, ever, and the fact that I not only wrote one but wrote several more long fics with plots and alternate worlds and ALSO DC HIGH, HOW PROUD AM I OF THAT SERIES. I don't know what happened, but I think I ~grew as a writer.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Demi/Selena, definitely. I thought they were sweet in January, but Just For Teenagers, and now I am totally hooked on the entire Disney Channel RPF universe in this really serious way. Also, that WoWP siblingcest porn. Yeah.
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I honestly cannot decide between Women! Gossip! Vampires! and I Would Add Up What You Mean To Me, But. They both make me SO HAPPY in different ways, but they're also kind of similar stories about weirdos falling in love, so I guess that's why I like them so much.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
AUs ARE THE FUNNEST, basically. My big writing risk was signing up forthelittlebang, and forcing myself to write something very long and plotty was a Good Life Choice, I think. It made me a writer that I'm much more satisfied with. Like, I remember last winter, writing on i must be hunting treasure ('cause I'm diggin' your chest) and saying to fox1013 OH GODDD THIS IS SO LONGGGGG and like, what even was my deal. It is 3,000 words and I can't even look at it now because I just want to go back and flesh it out into the 10,000 word epic I could totally make it now that I know how to do that.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Mostly, just to keep writing. I have this secret fear that my RL will overtake things and I won't be able to make time to write anymore, and - well, probably the fact that this is a fear of mine means it won't happen, but still. Also, I'd like to add another piece to the DC High universe, because I just love playing in it, and I secretly have most of Demi and Selena's high school experience plotted out in my head in a pretty serious amount of detail. ALSO ALSO, there is a very long Gossip Girl fic that I want to write about Vanessa and Blair, but we'll see if that ever actually happens.

My best story of this year:
Oh god. All of my long ones, but the one that I'm proudest of writing is definitely A Verb For Falling In Love. The femslash challenges tend to bring out the best in my writing (I'm still really, really proud of the fic I wrote forfemslash07), especially if my recipient ends up being someone I respect as a writer, and that was one where I feel like I got Blair and Serena down and used my language well and did a lot with the short word count.
My most popular story of this year:
I think probably I Would Add Up What You Mean To Me, But, which makes me so, so happy. I love that story and that entire universe BEYOND REASON, and it's so gratifying and flattering that other people like it too, even a little.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Probably I Do Not Love You Except Because I Love You? Maybe? I am really proud of that fic in a way that I think only makes sense if you a) like Bleighton a lot, b) have read Twilight, and c) enjoy sexual tension and corsets and bodice-ripping. That is not a super-big audience, I guess.
Most fun story to write:
My Heart is Plotting Treason, by a million jillion thousand points. I don't think I'd have the friendship I have withjengrrrl and fivewhatfive if it wasn't for that story, AND THEN WHO WOULD BE MY FRIEND.

Ugh, I still feel weird about having written WoWP siblingcest fic. Alternately, I don't know - the epic Zac/Vanessa pegging story got me a lot of mockery, BUT IT WAS SEXY IN THE END, SO WHATEVER YOU GUYS.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Oh god, I am not serious business enough for this kind of question.
Hardest story to write:
I was, for some reason, really crazy and insecure about Like Wishes, Wise Men, and Blind Mice (Three). Possibly because I was so invested in telling the story I wanted to tell properly, also a little bit because I was convinced that noooobody would ever reeeeeead it, IDK. It just took forever - but it turned out the way I wanted it to, so I guess all the stressing was worth it.
Biggest Disappointment:
I don't really know what to say here. Like, the fic I am most ~disappointed in myself for writing? The fic that wasn't received well? The fic that did not make my hopes and dreams a reality? Whatever, pass.
Biggest Surprise:
Oh god. The art people made for My Heart is Plotting Treason IT WAS SO GOOD I BARELY EVEN HAVE THE WORDS. I WISH THAT WOULD HAPPEN FOR EVERY OTHER THING I WRITE, JEEZ.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
LOL it's not really unintentional, but any of the sex scenes in My Heart is Plotting Treason, which. . .apparently really defined the way I write fic this year, wow have I mentioned it a lot. Possibly because I was so invested in telling the story I wanted to tell properly, also a little bit because I was convinced that noooobody would ever reeeeeead it, IDK. It just took forever - but it turned out the way I wanted it to, so I guess all the stressing was worth it.
Biggest Disappointment:
I don't really know what to say here. Like, the fic I am most ~disappointed in myself for writing? The fic that wasn't received well? The fic that did not make my hopes and dreams a reality? Whatever, pass.
Biggest Surprise:
Oh god. The art people made for My Heart is Plotting Treason IT WAS SO GOOD I BARELY EVEN HAVE THE WORDS. I WISH THAT WOULD HAPPEN FOR EVERY OTHER THING I WRITE, JEEZ.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
LOL it's not really unintentional, but any of the sex scenes in My Heart is Plotting Treason, which. . .apparently really defined the way I write fic this year, wow have I mentioned it a lot. ANYWAY GUYS, SPOILER ALERT: I THINK CHICKS IN DUDE CLOTHING IS LIKE REALLY REALLY SEXY. A LOT. REALLY. ESPECIALLY IF THOSE CHICKS ARE BLAKE LIVELY. IDK IF YOU HAVE FIGURED THIS OUT YET.
