Lost Girl Episode 1.08: This Is Not Actually A Recap
Sorry. This. . .is not actually a recap. Instead, it's pretty much just me making squeaky baby animal noises at Dr. Lauren hooking up with Bo in what has got to be the fastest lesbian hookup/breakup arc in the history of television. BUT IT'S SO FULL OF DELICIOUS LADY ANGST. And makes me want to know all about Dr. Lauren'sSEXY DARK PAST, because LOOK AT THOSE EYES, LOOK AT THOSE HANDS, LOOK AT THAT HAIR, HOW ON EARTH COULD YOU SAY NO. I BET HER DANGEROUS PAST INVOLVES HOW SHE GOT THAT HOT.
Or whatever. Not that I'm biased.
We begin the episode with Bo and Lauren having the world's most inappropriate doctor-patient relationship. Lauren's trying to do a very serious physical exam, where she doesn't stare at Bo's lips even a little bit, and Bo keeps smiling at her and making sex eyes, and it would be REALLY CREEPY except that they both like each other so much. I am charmed despite myself, etc.
Anyway, Bo mentions that she likes Lauren's necklace. Their hands touch, and it's adorable because sflkdfl;ajslfjHANDS, but it is also SERIOUS BUSINESS GAY FORESHADOWING. REMEMBER THAT NECKLACE FOR LATER.
So. In the interim, the real plot of this episode happens, and BASICALLY Bo is about to do something idiotic and run headlong into a fight with a member of the Dark who is like, really powerful and will probably kill her. Lauren and the Ash have a chat, where the Ash is like, "She'll totally die. I can get the guy moved out of town, but you should keep her busy until the morning." Lauren asks how, and the Ash is all, IDK SHE HAS MAGIC SEX POWERS, USE YOUR IMAGINATION.
Lauren looks, for the record, morally conflicted but a little turned on. I didn't cap the scene because she's wearing a really unfortunate outfit and I wanted to preserve her dignity.
ANYWAY. She goes over to Bo's house, where they drink wine and then Lauren grabs her arm and comes close and they have this wonderful, sweet, tentative kiss. Bo, of course, is all, BUT WHAT IF I HURT YOU, THAT WOULD BE BAD and Lauren is just like, "I trust you." It's darling, and it gave me SO MANY FEELINGS. LAUREN LIKES HER SO MUCH. SHE IS SO EARNEST. HEARTS IN MY EYES.
OMGG and then they have sex. Naked. Lauren is well-lit and toppy, which I appreciate from a purely academic standpoint.
ALSO ALSO OMGGG because Bo is FOURTEEN on the inside, she takes Lauren's necklace - which symbolizes the fact that the Ash owns her - and is all NOBODY OWNS YOU. YOU'RE SPECIAL and throws it away. It's tremendously romantic in a way that reminds me of teenage punk kids.
Except, omg. THE SEX DOESN'T TAKE ALL NIGHT, and Bo tries to leave to go demon hunting while Lauren naps fetchingly in the afterglow. Lauren is all, WHAT. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT. NO REASON, because clearly her grand distraction plan ended at "we have sex."
Two minutes later they're crying and Bo is freaking out because LAUREN LIED TO HER, SHE CANNOT ABIDE LIARS, and she throws Lauren's necklace back at her in a dramatic gesture of betrayal. She also bails, leaving Lauren wrapped in a sheet and sobbing, and omgomg it's like a punch in the chest.
BUT FOR THOSE THREE AND A HALF MINUTES IT WAS BEAUTIFUL, AND WHATEVER, I STILL SHIP IT.
