warehouse 13 3.05: picspam one

OKAY GUYS, HERE WE GO. I have split the episode into two picspams: one to recap all the stuff from ~the present~, and one for the stuff that happened at a time period where perhaps there were petticoats, because I have a lot to say about both parts and things were getting kind of unwieldy.

PREVIOUSLY ON WAREHOUSE 13: H.G. and Myka had atorrid secret affair friendship based on mutual respect, and then broke up messily stopped being friends because of that thing H.G did at the end of last season. But Myka is back at the Warehouse now, and H.G.'s in a secret prison where she can only get visitors by having her consciousness transported out as a hologram. Also, H.G. used to be a warehouse agent in the 1890s, before she was bronzed. THE END.
As we begin, Pete and Myka are at a diner, setting up this episode's story arc. Pete is being juvenile in a way that inexplicably I find charming, possibly because Myka makes a lot of tremendously endearing faces at him and she is my favourite. PS: GO ON, GUESS WHICH ONE OF THESE IS HER "THINKING ABOUT H.G. WELLS" FACE.

ANYWAY, SPOILER ALERT, THE SOLUTION TO THEIR CRIME-SOLVING ISSUE THIS WEEK IS TO CALL IN H.G. WELLS FROM HER PSYCHIC PRISON THAT IS NOT AT ALL LIKE A POKEBALL BECAUSE WAREHOUSE 13 IS A SERIOUS TELEVISION PROGRAM.
MYKA AND H.G'S EYES MEET ACROSS THE CROWDED ROOM, AND IT IS MAGICAL.

Pete is utterly obnoxious, because he's mad at H.G. for breaking his kid sister's heart. Also for trying to destroy the world and that time she made his girlfriend try to kill him with an axe. Claudia is here, too, making giant eyes at H.G. and having really excellent hair.

SO ANYWAY: Helena saw the artifact they're looking for, back in the day. See the recap that is coming up for discussion of how amazing that is. She tells the story of her fabulous 19th-century adventures with it, and blah blah, except that OMG, there is this WONDERFUL MOMENT that I need to discuss, between H.G. and Claudia. When H.G. is telling her story, and Claudia interrupts, the curiosity/ping moment?
. . .AND THEN SHE GOES TO WRITE IT ON HER HAND. I don't know if that was Allison Scagliotti or Claudia, but it's brilliant and I love it.

Anyway. Stuff happens, they must go to Ohio with H.G. to solve a crime, and Jack and Rebecca are back and totally not a metaphor for Helena and Myka banging on the down low even a little bit. They find a piece of evidence that relates to H.G.'s experience with the artifact ~back in the day, and Pete antagonizes her, because she is a hologram who can't touch things. She takes it stoically, and Myka looks guilty and hurt, then quietly looks up to make sure H.G. is okay.

Myka and Pete check in with Claudia, and apparently the artifact of the week has caused another death. H.G. looks horrified, and runs her fingers through her hair in an extraordinarily fetching way.

Pete, in a 100% rational and not childish move, freaks out on Helena. Because. . .I guess, obliquely, the death is her fault? IDK. He's all EVERY TIME YOU'RE HERE, PEOPLE DIE AND YOU WRECK EVERYTHING. YOU'RE A LIAR WHO BEATS PEOPLE. GET OUT.
I just want you to take a moment to look at: a) Helena's face, and also MYKA, who just about breaks my heart here. Helena just looks so repentant and sad, and if I was still fourteen, this would be the scene that made me write Mrs
pirateygoodness Wells inside my notebooks and compose treatises about how ~deep she is and how ~tragic it is that she has all of these ~layers, and BASICALLY EVERYTHING THAT STRAIGHT TEENS FEEL ABOUT EDWARD CULLEN, I AM FEELING ABOUT H.G. RIGHT NOW.
Myka looks hurt again, because her big brother is yelling at her ex-girlfriend and she doesn't know how to defuse the situation and it is honestly heartbreaking to see her look that at a loss and quiet, since she's always so, so confident. She. . .puts Helena back into her holographic orb Pokeball prison thing, and gently calms Pete down. It is the most wonderful, heartbreaking thing.

Later on, they find the artifact, but can only avert a crisis involving a timer with two minutes to go by releasing Helena from her orb, and having her spill feelings all over the place. Myka looks on, soft-eyed and concerned, and it is magical. Clearly all that therapy in prison is paying off.

INTERLUDE WITH CLAUDIA: I just cannot. This was so sweet, and I didn't think much about her relationship with H.G. before but now I want a hundred fics about it, because it would be AMAZING. H.G. would be the crazy, gadget-inventing, thrill-seeking mom she never had! Claudia would be totally infatuated with her, and teach her about computers and modern society, and they'd bond in a sweet awkward way, and GUYS IT WOULD BE THE BEST.

I swear, I want there to be an episode of this show with no artifact at all, that's just like, all the characters hanging out at Leena's on a Saturday and relating to each other. Possibly this means I am the wrong target viewer for this show, or POSSIBLY IT MEANS I HAVE GREAT IDEAS AND YOU GUYS SHOULD WRITE THOSE STORIES. Think about it: MYKA AND JINKS BUY GROCERIES: THE EPIC BONDING EXPERIENCE. CLAUDIA AND HELENA SURF THE INTERNET FOR THE FIRST TIME: IT'S ADORABLE. MYKA AND PETE ARGUE OVER WHO SHOULD GET THE LAST COOKIE: THEY'RE SIBLINGS. Best.
Uh.
Meanwhile, in the episode, Myka and H.G. are staring at each other like ex-lovers and being generally heartbreaking again.
thrace_ nailed it when she described it as that awkward talk you have with your ex-girlfriend, where you realize how good things were and you want to try again but the time's not quite right, and that is pretty much everything happening here.
First, Helena tries to gently congratulate Myka on solving the case, and being fantastic. Myka gently acknowledges her, but doesn't light up the way she used to.

Helena tries to bring up how good they were together, and again, Myka gently points out that they were good, until Helena ruined things. While somehow conveying a heart full of longing and regret.
I AM NOT EVEN TRYING TO TWIST THIS TO MAKE IT SOUND LIKE AN ALLEGORY FOR A GAY RELATIONSHIP, THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT.

Helena starts to mention that she wishes she'd figured things out sooner, and then Pete shows up, and things get awkward. Myka gets down to the business of sending Helena away, and Helena just looks wrecked and full of feelings, god. (Also, I love her nervous necklace-touching tic. It does something funny to me.)

And then Helena's gone, and it's just Myka and Pete again.
FEEL FREE TO DISCUSS THIS AT LENGTH. Coming whenever I have time: the rest of this picspam. I got carried away with the caps again.
