Okay. So clearly, this episode: not my thing. I care negative 8000% for Dyson and Bo's relationship, for various reasons that are not up for debate. Also, you know, an entire episode about the magic of hetero love conquering all, etc.
We shall try to ignore my glee, as they underscore and bold and then highlight and then put in blinky text the fact that BO AND DYSON ARE NOT GOING TO DATE. BECAUSE HE IS INCAPABLE OF LOVING HER. EVER. FOR ETERNITY. PERIOD. But seriously that part was amazing.
Things I enjoyed about this episode:
1. Bo has a swing in her bedroom. Bo has a swing in her bedroom. I - this is all I've got. You can't even start a kink meme for this show, as it is in fact its own kink meme.
2. I kind of really enjoyed Hale getting more to do, and I find the fact that he's getting more to do with Kenzi kind of swell. His mockery of tradition is the same way I mock tradition! He has a fabulous collection of hats! He teases her about being human and she toooootally likes him!
3. It sucks that Lauren didn't get much to do. I would have loved to watch that conversation, where Bo was all, CLEARLY YOU ARE QUIETLY FREAKING OUT ABOUT THE ASH GETTING REPLACED, PS I NEED YOU TO KIND OF HELP ME BREAK THE RULES SO I CAN PROVE A POINT ABOUT HETERO LOVE CONQUERING ALL TO IMPRESS DYSON. :DDDDD?
Anyway, her faces made my heart hurt.
Also, okay, clearly they actually plan to do something with Lauren's connection to the Ash, and I MUST KNOW WHAT. I am surprised at how deeply curious I am about this.
(I mean, ideally we'd find out what in a dramatic episode in which the new Ash puts Lauren in ~mortal peril~ and Bo has to save her and then maybe afterwards they have profound, passionate thank-god-you're-alive sex on Bo's kitchen table. BUT EVEN IF THEY DON'T. I am starting to get to a point in my fannish enjoyment of this show where I'm actually just excited about the world they're building and want to understand how it works. IT IS WEIRD FOR ME, IT'S BEEN A WHILE.)
4. I feel weird about enjoying Bo and Kenzi as much as I do, but they were really sweet and adorable. Kenzi did such a perfect job of letting Bo get to that place of "no, seriously, Dyson doesn't love you" in a gentle way, and then they hugged, and IDK IT GAVE ME FEELINGS, IT WAS WEIRD. I am not used to fangirling friendships yet not wanting those same people to sleep with each other.
IN CONCLUSION: Not as stoked as I was about last week's episode. I still enjoy this show a surprising amount, and am very curious about next week.
